Users & Access Tokens
The articles in this section will help you manage your users within the VOLO system.
info
We use Users
to describe people within VOLO who have access credentials (cards or tokens) and whose access permissions
are managed by the system.
We use Operators
to describe people with a VOLO account, who can log in and manage the system through the VOLO portal.
Importing & Exporting
If you are swapping out an older access control system and replacing it with VOLO, or if you have a large number of new users to add to an existing system, you can use the User Import feature.
Similarly, if you need to export your User data from VOLO, you can use the User Export feature.
Barred Users & Lost Tokens
VOLO provides several ways for you to quickly ensure that your estate is secure, while also providing as much information to your operators as possible.
Yes, you can delete users and credentials from the system or simply revoke someone's access, but this will just give a generic 'access denied' event in VOLO.
You can also use the Lost Token and Barred User features to easily revoke access to for a token or a user, but these methods will also provide additional information in the event log.
You can see in the VOLO event log if a user has been barred, or if a token has been lost, allowing you to respond accordingly using this extra information.
User Start & Expiry Dates
VOLO includes a feature designed for assigning access to users for a fixed period of time. This can be very helpful for:
- Term time access
- Contract workers
- Bank Staff (or cover staff)
This allows VOLO operators to pre-configure a start and end date for a user. Outside of these dates, the user will have no access and within these dates, their assigned access level will apply.
You can read about this in more detail in the User Expiry Dates article.
